Meet the Duralon® X2O Series: E-Z UP® First 100% Waterproof Pop-Up Canopies

E-Z UP Duralon X2O — 100% waterproof pop-up canopy for the toughest conditions

Rain always seems to show up uninvited — on your busiest market morning, or the afternoon of your biggest event of the year. And for years, the honest answer to "is this canopy waterproof?" was really "it's water-resistant." A good top will bead and shed a passing shower, but park it under hours of steady Canadian rain and water eventually works its way through the fabric or the seams.

That's exactly what the new Duralon® X2O series was built to fix. It's the first E-Z UP® lineup engineered to be 100% waterproof — not just water-resistant — built from a laminated ripstop vinyl that's now 30% lighter than traditional vinyl tops. Here's what's new, and how to choose the right one.

Water-Resistant vs. 100% Waterproof: What Actually Changed

Our standard Duralon® tops are a multi-layer polyester treated with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish. That finish is excellent at making rain bead and roll off — but like all woven fabrics, polyester will eventually "wet out" under a long, heavy downpour.

Duralon® X2O takes a fundamentally different approach to keep you dry:

  • A laminated ripstop vinyl top: Instead of relying on a coating to repel water, the X2O top is a laminated vinyl that water simply can't pass through — the same principle that keeps the underside of a tarp dry. Better still, it's engineered 30% lighter than traditional vinyl, so you get full waterproofing without the usual weight penalty.

  • Heat-welded seam bonding: This is the real breakthrough. Rather than stitching panels together — which leaves thousands of tiny needle holes for water to seep through — X2O seams are heat-welded into one continuous, bonded sheet. No holes, no wicking, no leaks where panels meet, which is exactly where most "waterproof" canopies actually fail.

  • Built-in anti-mildew and mold treatment: The fabric is treated to resist mildew and mold, so it stays fresh in use and through the off-season — no musty smell after a damp pack-down.

  • The same safety and UV protection you expect: Every X2O top is UV-stabilized and certified flame-resistant to CPAI-84, NFPA-701, and the California State Fire Marshal standard — so it's ready for trade shows, markets, and public spaces.

The result is a genuinely dry interior, even after hours under the rain.

The Full Waterproof Lineup

The X2O series covers three model families in two footprints — 10' × 10' (100 sq ft of coverage) and 10' × 20' (200 sq ft) — so there's a fully waterproof option for every level of use.

Eclipse® X2O — The Professional's Everyday Workhorse

The Eclipse® X2O 10' × 10' (and the larger 10' × 20') is built for reliable, all-day, all-weather use. It's the model to reach for if you're a vendor, market regular, or run frequent events — and it's the only family that lets you choose your frame: high-strength 1015 steel for value, or aircraft-grade aluminum for a lighter lift. Backed by a 7-year warranty.

Waterproof Pop-Up Canopy FAQ

Are pop-up canopies waterproof?

Most recreational pop-up canopies use coated polyester and are water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. E-Z UP® Duralon® X2O canopies use laminated ripstop vinyl and heat-welded seams to create a 100% waterproof barrier.

What is the best waterproof pop-up canopy for rain?

The best model depends on how you use it. Choose Eclipse® X2O for frequent professional events, Endeavor® X2O for demanding industrial use, Express™ X2O for lightweight portability, and Eclipse® MAX or Endeavor® MAX when added wind and rain deflection is the priority.

What is the difference between vinyl and polyester canopy tops?

Water-resistant polyester relies on a coating that can eventually wet out. Laminated Duralon® X2O ripstop vinyl is impermeable, while heat-welded seams remove stitch holes where water commonly enters.

Which waterproof canopy sizes are available?

The Duralon® X2O lineup includes 10x10 waterproof canopies and 10x20 waterproof canopies for markets, foodservice, jobsites, rentals, and outdoor events.

Can I add sides or walls to a waterproof canopy?

Yes. Compatible Duralon® vinyl sidewalls are sold separately and help create enclosed coverage for rain-sensitive setups.

Which canopy is best for wind and heavy rain?

For added wind and rain deflection, MAX models add reinforced weather-protection features. Always anchor the shelter correctly, follow the product operating guidance, and never leave a pop-up canopy unattended in severe weather.
